關於捷克FOMA的產品

Foma 這個品牌對於1990到2000間學習暗房的朋友來說應該不陌生，早期台灣黑白市場裡主要是以KODAK FUJI AGFA ILFORD為主要的的市場品牌，後來步入了1990年後陸續有一些歐洲的廠牌在黑白暗房學習風氣的推波下引進台灣，其中就屬 Kentmere Forte Foma 和Orental。這些廠因為曝光的時間較晚，所以在許多人已經習慣常用品牌的因素下，無法順利推廣出來。雖然努力維持了幾年的銷售，但終究無法成功留在台灣。
近來，在黑白市場裡出現了一些常用廠牌價格異動劇烈，要不然就是頻傳停產與斷貨的危機，讓許多有意投入黑白暗房學習的朋友感到擔心不已，不敢向前。
我們簡單來介紹一下目前工作室這裡代理的捷克 Foma這個廠的產品特色:

公司成立於1921年，
初期主要生產黑白相紙，
1931年後開始生產捲裝底片

…..算起來已算是一間歷史悠久的底片&相紙的大廠了，根據學生留學捷克說，目前在捷克FOMA還是學生(電影或動畫)常使用的品牌，原因當然是CP值夠高。平易近人的價格與穩定不凡的品質讓大家驚艷不已。我會決定進口這個品牌主要也是要感謝這個學生在一次回來休假時，來工作室租用暗房時，帶來工作室使用，在整理照片時偶然發見這家相紙的FOMATONE MG CLASSIC Warmtone系列，令人眼睛為之一亮，經詢問後才知道原來FOMA相紙原來這麼有特色。於是主動連絡後得到非常善意的回應，正是於去年2012開始引進該公司的底片產品。

FOMASPEED VARIANT III

BLACK-AND-WHITE VARIABLE-CONTRAST ENLARGING RC PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER

 
In general

FOMASPEED VARIANT III is a black-and-white, variable-contrast enlarging photographic paper on a resin-coated (RC) paper base. Its contrast can be varied in a large extent from extra soft up to ultra hard by using colour filters at exposure. The paper is designed for amateur, commercial and artistic photography as well as for other applications.
FOMASPEED VARIANT III features a very rich half-tone scale over all contrast grades, a shining white paper base and saturated blacks. The paper is manufactured using silver chlorobromide emulsion that gives neutral-to-medium warm tone to the silver image. Developing agents incorporated into the emulsion layer facilitate rapid machine processing and a shortening development times in manual processing to 60 - 90 seconds at 20 oC. Due to the resin-coated paper base and a thin emulsion layer, the time necessary for development, fixing, washing and drying is considerably shortened and the comsumption of processing baths and washing water is reduced.
FOMASPEED VARIANT III is manufactured on an RC paper base in a glossy and matt surface.

 
基本上這款多重反差相紙對於想入門認識FOMA相紙的人是一個很不錯的選擇。因為這款相紙已經經過不斷的改良，相紙對於透過彩色濾鏡控制反差的表現非常的穩定，因為內含顯影主劑的成分，讓相紙的顯影時間可以在60到90秒左右即可達到完整的顯影反映，得到良好的D-MAX呈現。另外相紙的乳劑中有特別加入氯化銀的成分，讓乳劑同時有氯化銀與溴化銀的混和特性，提供影像帶有適中程度的溫黑色調表現。在化學處理上依照大家目前使用的藥水就可以有很好的表現，無需特別更換藥水系統或放大機設備。
目前有生產的相紙表面 有GLOSSY亮面 和MATT 霧面。

FOMABROM VARIANT IV 123

In general

FOMABROM VARIANT IV 123 is a black-and-white, variable-contrast enlarging photographic paper on a baryta paper base. Its contrast can be varied in a large extent from extra soft up to ultra hard by using colour filters at exposure. The paper is designed for amateur, commercial and artistic photography as well as for other applications.
FOMABROM VARIANT IV 123 features a very rich half-tone scale over all contrast grades, a slightly cream-coloured tone base and saturated blacks. The paper is manufactured using silver chlorobromide emulsion that gives neutral-to-medium warm tone to the silver image.
FOMABROM VARIANT IV 123 is manufactured using a heavy spar loaded paper base material (unprepared photographic paper), with square weight of 280 g/m2, surface finish of fine-grain type and of semi-mat gloss degree.
FB相紙一直都是許多進階暗房工作者喜愛的黑白紙張，有別於RC相紙，FB相紙的厚度重量感，雖然處理上比較麻煩；但是處理完拿在手上作品的分量感十足，往往讓人忘卻辛苦。這款相紙基本上是使用與FOMASPEED VARIANTIII相似的乳劑，圖佈在280g/m2的紙張上，為了讓影像的亮部可以跟相紙的乳劑特性吻合，特別將相紙的紙基染上微微的米色，更添加整體影像的一體感。
目前提供的相紙表面有 GLOSSY光面和semi-mat微粒面。

FOMATONE MG


BLACK-AND-WHITE VARIABLE-CONTRAST ENLARGING PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER WORKING IN A WARM TONE

 
In general

FOMATONE MG is a variable-contrast photographic paper working in a warm tone, specially designed for portrait photography and retro style works. Its contrast can be varied in a large extent from extra soft up to ultra hard by using colour filters at exposure. The paper is manufactured using a special silver chlorobromide emulsion that gives the silver image a brown-green to warm-brown tone that can further be influenced by the type of developer used. The paper base involved is coloured in compliance with the tone of the developed silver. This accentuates rich scale of warm halftones ranging from light cream up to saturated brown-to-green black ones. Regarding its low speed, the paper is designed primarily for contact work, it can be, however, used as an enlargement paper as well. Special silver chlorobromide emulsion of this paper enables the consumers to use creative methods within so called "lith" processes. It manufactured in three sorts:
– FOMATONE MG – on PE (resin) coated base in surfaces: glossy, matt and velvet
– FOMATONE MG CLASSIC – on baryta (FB) paper base (double weight) in surfaces: glossy, matt and fine-grain
– FOMATONE MG CLASSIC 532-II Nature and 542-II Chamois – on natural paper base (double weight) with slightly lustre smooth matt surface.


 
溫黑調的黑白影像長期以來一直深受喜愛人像攝影的攝影師愛好，從早期的LUNA 月光相紙到近期的(1998)ILFORD WARMTOME相紙，溫黑調的影像種是耐人尋味，特別是經過硫化調染後的復古影像更是令人印樣深刻。FOMA在這個方面也是非常重視，不只在其他的系列中總會適當的加入氯化銀來增加溫色調的表現，更是生產這款純粹的溫色調多重反差相紙，除了RC相紙FOMATONE MG(GLOSSY光面 matt 霧面 Velvet 絨面)以外，另外還推出FB相紙FOMATONE MG CLASSIC(GLOSSY光面 matt 霧面 FINE-GRAIN微粒面)的紙張。特別要介紹的是這兩款特殊紙FOMATONE MG CLASSIC 532-II NATURE 和FOMATONE MG CLASSIC 542II，之前一直以為ILFORD WARMTONE FB已經是深具知名度的溫調相紙，想不到在偶然的機會下發現國外網站中提到關於LITH PRINTING玩家，指定使用這款相紙，於是在上次進口SAMPLE測試時特別訂了一些進來洗洗看，果然讓我驚豔，請有興趣的玩家一定要試試看。

BLACK-AND-WHITE ENLARGING FB PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER

 
In general

FOMABROM is an universal black-and-white photographic paper on a baryta paper base. It is manufactured using silver chlorobromide emulsion that gives a neutral-to-medium warm tone to the resulting silver image. The paper features a very rich halftone scale ranging from shining whites to deep blacks.
FOMABROM is manufactured on a double-weight baryta paper base (FB) in a glossy, matt and silk (pyramid) grain surface and in four contrast grades: soft (S), special (Sp), normal (N) and hard (C).
The speed of all contrast grades is identical, enabling change in contrast grade without difficulties
對於從國外學習攝影回來的留學生和資深的暗房工作者，固定反差的相紙一定不會陌生。乾淨俐落的黑白階調表現，從亮部到暗部一氣呵成，如果底片反差沖洗控制得當，呈現出來的階調感，我想是多重反差相紙無法比擬的。可算是老饕級的選擇。當然如果初學者想真正學習黑白沖片的控制與相紙的關係，固定號數相紙更是唯一選擇。
目前提供的相紙表面選擇有GLOSSY 光面 matt霧面 與 SILK GRAIN平光面。反差有SOFT(S)1號 SPECIAL(SP)2號NORMAL(N)3號和HARD(C)4號。

 

 

FOMALUX 111


BLACK-AND-WHITE CONTACT PRINTING PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER

 
In general

FOMALUX 111 is a black-and-white photographic paper on a baryta paper base (FB), designed especially for use in portrait photography and similar applications. FOMALUX 111 SP is characterized by a rich halftone scale, soft reproduction of lights and saturated blacks. Regarding a low speed of the silver chloride emulsion used, the paper is designed primarily for contact work, it can be, however, used as an enlargement paper as well. In this case the exposure should be extended approx. 30 times in comparison with Fomabrom-type papers.
FOMALUX 111 is produced in one contrast grade: special (Sp) in one surface: glossy (111).
FOMALUX 111是一款以氯化銀為主要成分的相紙，特性是階調的線性重現。相紙的感度較一般放大用相紙低，常被使用作為印樣使用；不過如果要拿來作為放大使用也是可以的。但是需要較強的光源才可節省時間。
目前這款相紙只有提供GLOSSY光面一種表面，反差為SPCCIAL(SP)3號。

 
總結:

Foma產品線完整且齊全，在台灣過去因為較少被使用於是對於Foma的產品比較陌生，特別是在相紙方面。我們工作室計畫先完整引進全系列的相紙，特別規畫成套裝產品，比方說多重反差系列
、RC系列、FB系列的方式，讓有興趣的朋友可以有系統的認識他們的特性。在底片方面，Foma 目前除了提供捲裝片135 120的尺寸以外，在張裝片上一直到8X10英吋的尺寸也都具繼續生產中，相信對於4X5 與8X10底片攝影的朋友是一件好消息。一個新的廠牌要帶入台灣這個封閉的市場需要更多的努力才能順利生根，未來需要各為黑白銀鹽攝影的愛好者給我們建議與支持，工作室這裡也一定秉持身為一個推廣的角色跟大家一起努力。
